Support Steve Mcneill
Hello everyone,
We are once again raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis. For the last few years we have participated in the Great Strides walk. However this year, I will take on, Ironman Lanzarote, upping the ante somewhat from a gentle family walk to a3.8k swim, 180k bike ride and 42k run.
The idea of doing the Ironman in 2012 was initially conceived 10 years ago with 3 friends from University as a way to mark the end of our 4th decade, and it gives me great comfort (and joy!) knowing that they too will be standing nervously on the start line at 6:45 am in just 10 days time.
The race starts at 7:00 am GMT (2:00 am EST) and I hope to finish in around 12 hours 7:00 pm GST (2:00 pm EST). Approximately 1 hour for the swim, 6 hours 30 mins biking and then 4 hours 30 mins for the marathon).... but don’t hold to me that! If I shuffle across the finish at any time before the midnight cut off I’ll be happy.
To make possible this ambitious goal, Isabelle and I with Olivia (6), Sophia, Cristina (3) and Hugo (6 months) moved to the Canary Islands in January. Olivia, Sophia and Cristina attend the local school and are thoroughly enjoying the Canarian life, we now hear them play and sing in Spanish with school friends around the house.
As many of you will already know, our dream as a family is that a cure for CF will be available for our daughter Olivia before the degenerative nature of CF has had any profound effect. To this end, there have been numerous major advances in CF research in the last 12 months. The ultimate goal of a cure is getting closer and we are extremely grateful for your continued support in helping us to realize our dream, for Olivia.
To make it easy to donate we are again using the Great Strides website, We invite you to sponsor Olivia by clicking on the link below (a tax receipt will be automatically emailed).

We are hopeful of beating last years fundraising total of $12,000, to this end, we would appreciate it, if you could forward this to anyone to whom it could be of interest.
Thank you so much for your continued generosity & support.
Steve, Isabelle, Olivia, Sophia, Cristina & Hugo.

We need to start the season off strong! We can't let lack of players be a factor in our game.
Voyageurs to go Senior in 2012
After a very successful launch in 2011 of the Lower Canada Voyageurs U19 team and Academy, the combined EORU and Rugby Quebec region will be adding a senior men's team into the mix this season.
"This year will be looked at as a pilot season. The goal is to push for full CRC inclusion in 2013 but we need to get a successful exhibition year under our belt first," stated Steve MacNeil, EORU President.
The intention is to play two Quebec vs. Ottawa selection games in late April and early May in Ottawa and Montreal. From this, the Voyageurs senior squad will be selected.
"It is important that both Quebec and EORU senior men are able to have their own identity. Along with selecting the best players, these selection games will help keep provincial traditions and rivalries alive which is important," says Pascal Foucault, FRQ President.
A calendar of 10 training sessions shared between cities has been laid out. A home and home series has been secured with Newfoundland and talks are ongoing for matches with two other major teams.
Greg Thaggard (EORU) will head up the coaching, with assistance from John Lavery (FRQ), Andrew Plimer (FRQ) and Marco Piacentini (EORU).
Voyageurs senior men will be run on a pay to play model for 2012 with numerous fundraising opportunities being made available.
Interested players should contact Program Manager, Blake Wilson (
